The holiday season is a
wonderful time for people to receive and give gifts and spend quality time with
family and friends. Everyone has an idea for the perfect gift whether it’s a
new designer accessory, clothing, or a toy for a child. Every child loves the concept
of receiving gifts. It brings a great amount of joy to a child’s life. Since
not every child is fortunate to receive gifts, people want to bring that kind
of joy to them in a possible way.
This way is called Toys
for Tots. This organization’s mission is to “collect
new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and
distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the
community in which the campaign is conducted.” The objectives of Toys for Tots
are to “help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience
the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our
nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local
communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy
collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities
in the future.”
This
organization teaches kids to be thankful and positive. It is a message of hope
leading them into the world of growing up with a mindset of being responsible,
productive people of the US.I think that this is a great program to have. It
allows for more privileged individuals to bring happiness to children with nothing
to lose. I think this also teaches people not to take everything they have for
granted.
It is also sponsored by a lot of famous companies like disney and toys r us and many other famous companies. It started in los angeles, California in 1947. Ellen Degeneress also mentioned this charity in her show.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is a good program. There are so many people out there less fortunate than us, and its important to give back. Especially because children are the future, and they need to be taken care of.
